These are the places my family and I come back to again and again. Not a sponsored list, not a ranking, and not a tourist trap roundup. Just the spots I genuinely recommend when someone asks.
Shaun's go-to for Italian. A Naples-born chef imports his flour, tomatoes, and mozzarella from Italy and fires every pizza in a wood-burning oven that hits 900 degrees. Award-winning, consistently packed, and worth every minute of the wait.
Shaun's all-time favorite. A family-owned ice creamery making 40+ flavors of small-batch handmade ice cream right in the shop. Classics sit alongside 21+ adult flavors, pralines, and chocolates infused with top-shelf liquors.
One of the most beautiful dog parks anywhere. Well-maintained, spacious, and a genuine community hangout. Shaun brings his pugs Carl and Westin here regularly. If you've got a dog with you on this trip, don't miss it.
Where the locals actually hang out. Right at the foot of the 331 Bridge on the Choctawhatchee Bay with some of the best sunset views in South Walton. Counter service, sandy beach seating, lawn games, live music, cold drinks, and dog-friendly too.
Shaun's go-to for brunch. French and Southern flavors come together beautifully. The Japanese tableside coffee is an experience, and the pancakes are genuinely some of the best around. Make a reservation ahead of time.
A 30A institution. Bakery and diner rolled into one, open every single day. Famous for fresh-made donuts, enormous Southern breakfasts, and homemade key lime pie. Get there early. The line tells the story.
Great coffee and a genuinely great spot if you need to get some work done without sacrificing the beach trip vibe. Fast WiFi, comfortable seating, solid menu, and one of the few spots built with remote workers in mind.
1,640 acres of untouched Florida coastline with 3.2 miles of pristine, car-free Gulf beach you can only reach by trail or tram. Trails, bike rentals, coastal dune lakes, and one of the most natural beach experiences in the area.
A 180-acre park at the eastern edge of 30A, bordered by the Gulf on three sides and Lake Powell on the fourth. Kayak and paddleboard rentals, trails through dunes and coastal forest, fishing, and real Old Florida character.
Inside Sandestin Resort and open to the public. Shops, restaurants, bars, arcade, zipline, ropes course, carousel, seasonal fireworks, movies, live music, and plenty for kids to do after the beach.

South Walton and 30A have something going on almost every weekend all summer.

A classic 30A holiday option with all-day festivities in Seaside. Expect crowds, bikes, and a very 30A kind of patriotic chaos.
Tuesday nights this summer at Baytowne Wharf. DJ party starts at 7:15 PM, then fireworks light up the lagoon at 9:15 PM.
Local markets pop up weekly around Seagrove, Sandestin, Rosemary Beach, Grand Boulevard, and more. Great low-key morning option before the beach heats up.
Baytowne’s summer lineup rotates through movies, concerts, pirate nights, light shows, and family-friendly evening events throughout the season.
